Claude
General-purpose AI assistant for writing, analysis, research, coding, and business strategy.
What it does
Claude is Anthropic's general-purpose AI assistant built for reasoning, writing, analysis, and coding. It handles long, complex documents and multi-step reasoning tasks that trip up less capable models. Claude is particularly strong at nuanced instruction-following, structured output, and maintaining context across very long conversations.
Strengths
- Mid-market teams deploy Claude via API to power internal tools, automate workflows, and assist knowledge workers at scale.
- Enterprise teams integrate Claude into proprietary systems for document processing, customer service automation, code review, and complex decision support - with data privacy controls via the API.
- Small businesses use Claude to draft customer communications, analyze data, write documentation, and automate repetitive knowledge work across departments.
- Small teams use Claude to punch above their weight on content, strategy, and analysis without hiring specialists for every discipline.
- Solo operators and consultants use Claude as a always-on research, writing, and analysis partner - replacing hours of manual work on proposals, reports, and client deliverables.
Watch-outs
- No real-time web access by default: Claude cannot browse the web or retrieve live information in its base interface — real-time data requires integrations or tools enabled via the API.
- No image generation: Claude can analyze and describe images but cannot create them. You will need a separate tool like Midjourney or DALL-E for visual generation.
- No autonomous actions without tooling: Claude responds within a conversation but cannot take actions in external systems on its own — agentic workflows require additional setup via the API or Claude Code.
- Large document sets may need chunking: While Claude has a generous context window, very large document collections still need to be broken into manageable batches for best results.
Pricing
Free tier available. Claude Pro at $20/month for individuals. Team plan at $30/user/month. Enterprise pricing custom. API pricing per token - varies by model.
Veracy Advisory
How Veracy deploys this
We default to Claude as the first pilot for document-heavy teams: rollout is measured in days, the human stays in the loop by design, and there's no infrastructure to stand up before day one.
Readiness prerequisites
- An AI use policy that names what data may and may not be pasted
- One documented workflow chosen as the first use case, not 'general productivity'
Integration gotchas
- SSO and domain-wide data controls require the Team or Enterprise tier, not Pro
- Browser-based use means your acceptable-use policy matters more than any IT configuration
- No native connection to internal systems without the API or Claude Code - budget separate implementation time for that
Implementation notes: Start with 2 or 3 named power users in one function, not a company-wide license drop. Write a one-page acceptable-use note before the first login: what data may be pasted, and what may not.
